In accordance with the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR), the manufacturer must ensure that the waste resulting from the problem product placed on the market is collected and recovered, reused or disposed of. The costs of these activities are covered by the manufacturer.

The manufacturer of tires according to the Waste Act is an entrepreneur, which imports or manufactures tires or retreads used tires. The manufacturer is obliged to collect and reuse old tires placed on the market by him. It may fulfill its statutory obligations individually or transfer the obligations to the producer responsibility organization by contract.

The Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) is a non-profit association of producers whose members or partners are producers or organizations representing producers, and which has been founded with a purpose to fulfil the producer responsibility obligations in the interests and on behalf of manufacturers.
